How do I get the most out of my candle?

The first burn is the most important. When lighting for the first time, burn the candle until the wax melts across the entire surface. This will prevent tunnelling, create an even burn and help your candle to last longer.
For subsequent use, allow your candle to burn for a minimum of 2 hours but no more than 4 hours at a time. This will ensure your candle burns evenly and lasts longer.
Trim your wick to 6mm before each burn. If your wick is too long it will create black smoke, wick mushrooming and the candle will burn too quickly.
Never burn your candle with less than 10mm of wax in the jar. The glass may overheat and potentially break.
Use a candle dipper or snuffer when extinguishing the flame to prevent smoking.

How do I burn safely?

Never leave candles burning unattended.
Keep lit candles away from children and pets.
Keep candles out of direct sunlight and in a cool dry place to prevent sweating and discolouration.
Always burn on a flat, stable surface, free from other flammable objects and drafts.

Why might I see black residue on the inside of the jar?

Untrimmed wicks can cause smoke or residue on the inside of your candle jar. If you do find some residue, you can wipe the jar clean with a damp cloth whilst the candle is not lit and ensure that you follow our instructions to trim the wick to 6mm before each burn.

What is frosting?

Frosting is a natural effect of soy wax and can sometimes occur when a crystalline layer forms on the surface as the wax tries to return to its natural state.
Frosting is an indication that your candle has been made using 100% natural soy wax with no additives used to prevent it.
Frosting will not affect the performance of your candle in any way.

Why do I see wax discolouration in some products and not others?

Some discolouration can occur in wax due to the vanillin content of the fragrance oil used. Some fragrances do not contain any vanillin, but many do. This is completely normal and will not affect the performance of the products in any way.

Tips for diffuser use

The natural fibre reeds continuously release a clean, pure fragrance throughout your living space. Simply flip the reeds once a week to release a new wave of scent, being careful not to spill the oil.
Do not light the diffuser reeds!
Ensure the diffuser is placed out of reach of children, pets and in a place where is cannot be knocked over.
Clean up any spills immediately as the liquid can damage surfaces.

How do I use wax melts?

Remove the wax melt from the packaging and break off one or two squares to place in the top of a wax melter.
Light a tealight candle and place inside the melter.
When you can no longer smell the fragrance it is time to replace the melt.
Allow the wax to solidify for easy removal.

Reducing landfill

To reuse your container, you will need to remove the remaining wax.
Do not melt this wax in your microwave as the wick base is metal.
Place the jar in the freezer for about 30 minutes then you can gently break the remaining wax in the bottom of the jar, allowing it to be easily removed and disposed of in the bin.
Once you have removed the wax, allow the jar to return to room temperature, before filling it with hot water. You will see any residual wax on the surface of the water. Tip this out on the grass (not down the sink) and wipe out the jar with a piece of paper towel.
Now you have a clean jar, you can reuse it and avoid contributing to landfill. We find they are great to store our candle trimmer and dipper with a box of matches ready for the next burn.
